Previous: Markus joined the AWRI in 2001, initially as leader of the tannin project, and has held the position of Group Manager – Research since 2004. His research focus is on aroma and wine chemistry, metabolomics, and analytical and natural products chemistry. Markus is a Certified Food Chemist, he obtained a PhD from the University of Würzburg, Germany, and is Affiliate Associate Professor at The University of Adelaide since 2001. In 2000, he received the Kurt-Täufel Award as Outstanding Early Scientist from the German Society of Food Chemistry. Markus has authored or co-authored more than 100 papers including book chapters, journal articles and technical reports, and is a member of the following scientific societies: Australian Society of Viticulture and Oenology, German Chemical Society, German Society of Food Chemistry, American Society for Mass Spectrometry and American Chemical Society.
