The Australian Wine Research Institute (AWRI) is the Australian grape and wine industry’s own research organisation. The AWRI has an opportunity for a motivated and experienced Business Development Manager to identify, develop and secure new opportunities for commercial partnerships, technology commercialisation and investment in the AWRI. The role also oversees the AWRI’s contractual and legal affairs. The success of this role will be measured by the extent to which the AWRI’s strategic and fiscal objectives are met.
The successful candidate will be a strong communicator who is able to develop strategic business cases through interacting with professionals ranging from post-doctoral researchers to chief executives. Astute business acumen, passion, influence and drive as well as a critical understanding of science will be required to achieve targets set for continued growth in both public and private funding for the AWRI.
A tertiary degree in science, viticulture and/or oenology, preferably to the level of a PhD, with further qualifications in business management, is highly desirable. A relevant and successful track record in a similar position is essential. Substantial experience in roles in the wine industry and/or the scientific community, preferably in comparable business development roles, would be beneficial.
