The Australian Wine Research Institute (AWRI) is the Australian grape and wine industry’s own research organisation. Applications are invited for the position of Technical Officer to support projects based at the AWRI that are funded as part of the Australian Government’s Rural Research and Development for Profit program. The position will provide technical support for two projects: 1) developing rapid methods to detect disease in grapes and 2) evaluating options to prevent or remove taint caused by smoke exposure of grapes. Activities will focus on the collection, preparation and presentation of grape, juice and wine samples for analysis.
The ideal candidate will be technically proficient in both laboratory and field work, an excellent communicator and team player, and will have a high level of integrity and scientific curiosity. Experience in chemistry is highly desirable.
