The Australian Wine Research Institute (AWRI) is the Australian grape and wine industry’s own research organisation. Applications are invited for a Project Technician-Biosciences within the project team of AWRI Commercial Services. The position is a 12-month maternity leave cover position with the possibility of ongoing work at the conclusion of the initial contract. The new incumbent will need to work well within a busy team environment and ideally be able to commence as soon as possible.
The role is responsible for the delivery of the AWRI’s commercial offerings in the areas of microbiology and molecular biology. It encompasses the execution of both field- and laboratory-based trials and microbiology-based audits of industry processes and systems. The successful applicant will, under direction, also assist with experimental designs, data interpretation, reporting and the development of new commercial protocols.
The role is suitable for a graduate with significant experience in microbiology or molecular biology techniques in a research or laboratory environment. Experience in or knowledge of the wine industry is highly desirable, as is experience in report writing and communicating with a broad range of stakeholders.
