The Australian Wine Research Institute (AWRI) is the Australian grape and wine industry’s own research organisation. It supports a sustainable and successful grape and wine industry through world-class research, practical solutions and knowledge transfer. The AWRI has strong links with the wine industry and other research organisations around the world.
The AWRI is seeking to appoint two Non-Executive Directors to its skills-based Board, one of whom has the necessary skills and experience to chair the Board following the retirement of the long-term incumbent in December 2022.
The ideal candidates will have significant governance and leadership experience in directing large, complex organisations with diverse stakeholders. Above all else, they will be influential leaders, consensus builders and wise executive mentors.
All candidates should be appropriately recognised by the Australian Institute of Company Directors or equivalent. They should also have significant experience in research management, the higher education sector, innovation, commercialisation or agricultural production systems. Commercial experience and wine sector participation and knowledge will be highly regarded.
The AWRI Board holds formal meetings four times per year at the Waite Research Precinct in Adelaide, SA where it works closely with the senior executive of the AWRI. Successful candidates may require significant additional commitment of time for meetings with committees, stakeholders and industry. These positions are both remunerated.
A position description for the role of Chair is available here and the AWRI Board Charter is available here. For further information, please contact the Company Secretary, Shiralee Dodd, on (08) 8313 6600 or Shiralee.Dodd@awri.com.au.
Applications should be completed via the online form available here by Wednesday, 20 July 2022. Only applications that are completed via the online application form will be considered.
