Prior to joining the AWRI, Chris worked in the audit division of global accounting firm KPMG, working with a variety of clients including the local divisions of two wine multinationals and an iconic local brewery. He previously worked as a research winemaker for wine industry consulting firm Provisor after holding similar positions with the AWRI and University of Adelaide, during which time he assisted clients across the industry develop their ideas through small and pilot scale winemaking trials. Over this time Chris also contributed to an eclectic range of small batch commercial wines made from fruit drawn across the state, and undertook a vintage with Zimmerman-Graeff & Muller in the Mosel Valley, Germany.
Chris is a Director and the Treasurer of the Australian Wine Industry Technical Conference, and a member of the AWRI’s internal sensory panel. He has been recognised throughout his studies in winemaking at the University of Adelaide (Leo Buring gold medal for Oenology, and the Gramp, Hardy, Smith Memorial prize for the most outstanding student graduating from any of the faculty’s degree programs), accounting at Deakin University (Best graduating student in Graduate Certificate in Chartered Accounting Foundations) and business in the University of Adelaide’s MBA program with inclusion in the Dean’s list of outstanding graduates, having previously received the Wallman’s Lawyers Prize for Business Law.
