Election and appointment of Directors

The Board of the Australian Wine Research Institute

The AWRI’s Constitution provides that there will be not less than five nor more than 11 Directors. Three of those directors are nominated and/or elected by organisations that pay the Wine Grapes Levy and one of those directors is nominated and/or elected by organisations that pay the Grape Research Levy. Levy payer elected directors should, in addition to their other duties and responsibilities, provide an industry perspective to the direction and priorities of AWRI’s RDE&C activities. Up to six appointed directors possessing complementary skills can also be appointed. The only Executive Director is the Managing Director.

Appointed Directors

There are no current vacancies for Appointed Directors.

Elected Directors

Nominations are sought for two levy-payer elected Director positions on the AWRI Board. The first position is nominated/elected by Grape Research Levy payers and the second by the large category (more than 50,000 tonnes p.a) of Wine Grapes Levy payers. Levy payers in both categories are called on to nominate suitably qualified candidates for the vacant positions.

In the event that more than one nomination is received for a particular category, an election in that category will be held in late October/early November 2025 and further information will be published at that time.

Successful candidates will take office on 1 January 2026 for a term of three years. Nominations close on Friday, 17 October 2025 at 5:00 pm CST. A nomination form including an explanatory guide is available here.
