Position vacant – Food and Beverage Technician

Affinity Labs, the commercial arm of the AWRI, offers advanced analytical and consulting services to the food and beverage industry. The Affinity Labs team consists of more than 30 scientists, engineers and analysts who help to develop customised solutions for a wide range of products. We also offer a comprehensive range of testing services, including chemical and microbiological analysis, plant health diagnostics, sensory assessment and export certification services for a wide range of global markets.

Applications are invited for a Food and Beverage Technician within the Affinity Labs Project Team. This position will work with producers and suppliers, providing technical support and consulting services, as well as small-scale production services, to support new product development, shelf-life testing, technology trials and environmental sustainability. The successful applicant will need to provide hands-on support for a range of projects, which may be based in the laboratory or in the field. These projects could include, for example, product formulation and benchmarking of beverage packaging materials and additives. This appointment is for a fixed term of two years.

A Bachelor’s degree in food science, or similar, is essential. Qualifications and/or experience with sensory analysis methods is highly desirable. Experience in a food and beverage production, development or quality assurance environment is desirable. Experience with microbiological analysis methods or food safety procedures would be beneficial, but not essential.
