The Australian Wine Research Institute (AWRI) is the Australian grape and wine industry’s own research organisation. It supports a sustainable and successful grape and wine industry through world class research, practical solutions and knowledge transfer.
The AWRI’s commercial arm, Affinity Labs, provides advanced analytical and consulting services to the food and beverage industry. We offer a comprehensive range of testing services, including chemical and microbiological analysis, plant health diagnostics, sensory assessment and export certification services for a wide range of global markets. Our NATA-accredited (ISO17025 and GLP) laboratories, based in Urrbrae SA, perform more than 100,000 analyses per year.

The AWRI and Affinity Labs is seeking applications for the position of General Manager – Commercial Operations. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will be a results-driven leader with a focus on driving both operational efficiencies and quality outcomes for customers. As a member of the Executive Management Group, you will be involved directly in influencing strategic and operational elements across the broader AWRI business.

The General Manager – Commercial Operations role is one that will allow you to work with, develop and build a high-performance team. You will have the opportunity to make a substantial impact through shaping the future direction of the AWRI and Affinity Labs business.

A technical science background, business management training, complimented by significant commercial experience in the wine, food and beverage or agricultural industries would be favourably looked upon. Applicants should possess a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a comparable leadership role. A demonstrated track record of attracting research funding or investment would also be viewed favourably.
